Probably all women have the dilemma: wearing a bra while sleeping or not wearing? This is very popular question and there are pros and cons on both sides.

In today’s article we are going to write about both, pros and cons and also we are going to explain you which are true and which are just myths.

Some women are convinced that it is not advisable to wear bra as that causes constricted feeling, but also leaves marks on the body. Moreover, supposedly there is possibility of clogging the lymph nodes and on that way increasing the risk of breast cancer.

Still, on the other hand, there are women who are convinced that wearing a bra at all time, even during sleep will prevent the breast sagging.

So which one of these is true?

Scientists claim that both of the abovementioned theories are just a myth. Below you can read the reason for that.

Medical experts explain that the function of the lymph nodes in the underarms is to act as natural filters that drain the breast of lymph fluid, and that is the body’s first defense against cancer cells, foreign material and infections. As a matter of fact, there isn’t any scientific evidence that proves that bra-wearing during the night, in any way obstructs the lymph nodes’ pathways. Therefore, you should not be feared that it will increase the risk of breast cancer development.
When it comes to breast sagging, wearing bra doesn’t play a big role. Namely, women breasts sag as a result of breastfeeding, pregnancy, age and genetics. For women who wear a bra cup size C and bigger it is recommended to choose a soft – cup style, without much fasteners or hardware, and that will provide some support from sagging. Still, for those women who wear a smaller bra size, wearing a bra while sleeping can only cause discomfort without any benefits.

Well, now we can say that the myth is busted, as scientists claim that sleeping with or without a bra doesn’t pay significant role in increasing the risk of breast cancer and it will not prevent sagging either.

Therefore, the choice is on woman and preference depends from her. Those women who have sensitive skin, rashes or sweat more than usual during the night, explain that wearing a bra often is painful and uncomfortable. On the other hand, women who have tender and sensitive breasts claim that bra provides them the support they need.

However, it is recommended to choose a soft cupped, natural fiber and well-fitted bra for sleeping. It is recommended to buy bra that will provide you the needed support, but in the same time that will be gentle to your skin.
